What is so Super about Superfoods?

Superfoods are undeniably super. In fact, they are food superheroes. Ever since adding more superfoods into my diet, I started losing weight, gaining energy, sleeping better, and being ill less often. In fact, because of superfoods, I’m hardly ever ill at all. I don’t even suffer from the usual winter coughs and colds that normally plague my office every year.

There are two ways to get superfoods in your diet – by eating whole superfoods, or by using superfood powder. Both options work, and it’s just a matter of trying them both to see which option works best for you.

Whichever way you do it, I strongly recommend you read about and then include more superfoods in your diet. Within a couple of weeks, you’ll start to see and feel the difference!

I’ve had always tried to eat healthily, but I’ve not always been successful! My parents insisted I ate vegetables and fruit at home, and could only eat sweets as a treat. But, when I left home to go to college, I slipped out of my healthy eating habits and ended up eating the usual student foods that were cheap and easy to make – like mac and cheese, hamburgers, and pizza.

After a couple of years, I had gained weight and was not as healthy as I know I should have been. I hardly ate any fruit or vegetables, and rarely cooked my own food. Most of my food came from takeouts, and I had lost the healthy eating habit.

Then, one day, after a visit home and a telling-off from my mother about my weight and lack of healthy food in my diet, I decided enough was enough, and I made some changes. At first, I decided to cut out sugar as I knew that was a big problem for me. You can read more about my issues with sugar in my article Sugar and me – and less sugar for me.

After quitting sugar, I lost weight by mostly using meal replacement shakes for weight loss. You can read about that interesting topic in my article How to lose weight with meal replacement shakes. Long story short, meal replacement shakes are an easy way to lose weight without having to count calories or even do any cooking. You just swap a high-calorie meal for a low-calorie shake per day and, like magic, you lose weight. No hunger, no fuss, no problem!

Then, I started cooking more of my own meals and learned all about slow cookers. Slow cookers make healthy cooking and eating really easy. If you don’t have a slow cooker, I recommend you get one! Here is a buying guide to get you started.

Those three things changed my life, my health, and my weight, but I knew I was still missing something from my diet. It turned out that what I was missing was superfoods.

Superfoods are mostly plants that are very high in nutrients – they are fruit and vegetable superheroes. They contain so many nutrients that they can fight disease and boost your health, even if you don’t eat a lot of them.

I did a lot of reading and have since written about my superfood discoveries in my superfood guide.

In it, I reveal some of the best superfoods for you and also explain what superfoods can do for you. Needless to say, superfoods really are very, VERY super!

There are two ways to get superfoods into your diet. You can eat whole superfoods, many of which you can get from your local supermarket and health food store. Alternatively, you can use a superfood powder. Superfood powders are dried, concentrated superfoods that you mix with water. For many people, this is the easiest and most cost-effective way to consume superfoods regularly. Again, you can read more about superfood powders in my Superfood powder guide.

It really doesn’t matter whether you are trying to lose weight, get healthy, or just want to eat a better, more natural diet, superfoods will help. Packed with crucial nutrients, after a few weeks of using superfoods, I know you’ll look and feel great. Don’t take my word for it though – try it for yourself!
