Superfood powders really are powerful and I know you’ll love all the benefits that they provide. I highly recommend using superfood powder as part of your healthy diet – the sooner you do, the sooner you’ll start to look and feel 100%!
Why this guide ?
Superfood powder guide – when I first wrote that title, I accidentally wrote superfood POWER guide which is not what I meant to write but is actually pretty appropriate. Superfoods are super powerful and offer an amazing range of benefits to your health. They can even help you lose weight!
I’ve been using superfoods in my diet for quite a long time now and I can honestly say I have never felt better and my friends tell me I look better too. My skin is glowing, my hair is shiny and I feel happy and healthy all the time.
Before I started using more superfoods, I felt like something was missing from my diet and I never really felt 100%. It was hard to define but I knew I could and should feel better. I wrote about this in my article “Why I’ve Got Superfoods in my Diet” so make sure you check that out.
However, now I eat superfood meals and make superfood smoothies, I feel like a knew I should – great! I even found I lost weight more easily and my running performance improved. I am convinced that all these benefits are down to consuming more superfoods.
Why Superfood Powders?
Superfoods in general are very good for you but, the problem is, there are over 100 different superfoods and more are being discovered each and every week. A few years ago, blueberries, coconut oil, and pomegranate juice were the biggest and best-known superfoods but now there are so many more to choose from that it can be hard to know which ones are right for you.
Also, you are limited to how many whole superfoods you can eat in a day – after all, you need to eat “normal” food too. Subsequently, many people have to limit themselves to just a few superfoods and miss out on all the rest.
That’s why superfood powders are so very useful – the subject of my article “Why Superfoods in Powder” which explains the different types and benefits of these amazing supplements.
Superfood powders make getting plenty of superfoods in your diet really easy. You can simply add a serving to a glass of water or fruit juice or add them to a smoothie. Alternately, I have 7 Recipes Using Superfood Powder to share with you. I’m sure, once you try them, you’ll love them as much as I do.
Whole superfoods vs. Superfood Powder
You might be wondering why I’m recommending a supplement in place of “real” food when I usually do absolute opposite and that’s a good question. Normally, I’m very much Sarah the nature girl and prefer whole foods over supplements every single time but, in the case of superfoods, superfood powder can be just as good and maybe even better than whole superfoods.
When you choose to eat a superfood, let’s say avocado, you can only eat so much and you probably won’t eat many other superfoods in that same meal or day. The avocado will do you good but, in the grand scheme of things, you aren’t really consuming a whole lot of superfood.
Superfood powders, however, are very concentrated and contain not just one or two but many superfoods so you get a much broader spectrum of nutrients. It’s like a snow ball compared to a single snow flake!
In addition, when you use a superfood powder, you don’t get all the extra calories that most whole superfoods contain. For example, that avocado I mentioned earlier contains as many as 300 calories whereas a superfood powder (which contains a lot more superfoods) will contain less than one-tenth of the calories. This is good news if you want to eat lots of superfoods but also want to watch your weight.
There will always be controversy over supplements versus whole foods which is why I wrote my article “Whole Superfoods vs. Superfood Powder” so I could help clarify this issue and explain my recommendations.
How to Find a Good Superfood Powder?
There are lots of different superfood powders on the market today – it’s a growing industry. Some are very VERY good and some are less so which means it’s important that you can choose a good superfood product.
I’ve written about this in my article “How to Find a Good Superfood Powder” but here are the main points to consider when choosing a good product:
- Taste – some superfood powders taste like pond water; I’m not joking! This is not really surprising when you consider that most contain an algae called spirulina. Make sure you like the taste otherwise you are less likely to use it.
- Texture – a good superfood powder should mix well with liquid and not just float to the top. A nice texture will make your superfood powder easier to drink.
- Contents – does your superfood powder contain all the ingredients you want? Each superfood effects your body differently so make sure your chosen product contains the ones that you want.
- Quality – the better the quality of your superfood powder, the more benefits you’ll get from it. Make sure you choose products with a good reputation from well-known manufacturers.
- Price – cheaper is not always better but it’s important that your superfood powder is affordable and good value for money.
- Availability – can you get hold of your chosen superfood easily and quickly?
Best Superfood Powder
Considering all the information above, it’s only right I help you choose the best superfood powder by testing and reviewing the most popular superfood products around. This is something I’ve done in my article “Best Superfood Powder”. In that article, I compare three of the best superfood powders and rate them using several different criteria so you can find out which one will be right for you.
I don’t just read other peoples’ reviews and copy what they say; I buy and test these products myself. I also read the reviews on Amazon.com to see what other people are saying. After all that, and it’s a long process, I pass the information on to the readers of Days to Fitness so that you can make the right choice for you.
Don’t worry – I haven’t just selected the most expensive superfood powder but considered budget as well as quality. At the end of the article, you’ll read which ones are bets and why so you can make an informed choice and make the best possible purchase.
Superfood Smoothies
If you have read any of my articles on Days to Fitness, you’ll know that I LOVE smoothies. I have them for breakfast, as a quick lunch, or even as a snack or dessert. They are healthy, refreshing and, above all, easy to make.
I also recommend smoothies for weight loss to replace one or two meals per day and for after exercise to speed up recovery. In fact, I can’t think of many times when smoothies are not a good choice.
But the healthiest smoothies are superfood smoothies as they are packed with healthy nutrients that even a fruit or green smoothie cannot match.
Superfood smoothies contain whole superfoods, superfood powder, or even both for a huge hit of healthy nutrients. I love smoothies so much that I have written several recipes which you can find in my article “Superfood Smoothies“. Superfood smoothies aren’t just super healthy; they are also delicious.
They taste so great that you will probably forget you are drinking something so healthy. Superfood smoothies are also a terrific way to get your kids to love superfoods too. Boost your healthy today by making superfood smoothies for yourself and your family and friends.
