How Protein Bars Can Help You Lose Weight

    1
By Sarah on January 10, 2018 Healthy Eating, Protein Bars

Eating healthily, using protein bars as snacks, and exercising can help you reach your fitness and weight loss goals, but only if you make them habits. Stick with it and I promise you that you’ll get the results you want. And you don’t have to go it alone – I’m here to help!

How many times have you tried to lose weight by dieting, gotten hungry, and then broken your diet? Maybe you’ve had sugar cravings that you just couldn’t ignore, and that’s why you broke your diet? Or maybe you meant to have healthy snacks but then, when you needed one, couldn’t find what you needed, and ended up eating a candy bar instead?

Either way, unless you can stick to your diet and make healthy eating a habit, you’ll never lose weight and keep it off.

And don’t worry – you are not alone. As many as 95% of dieters never reach their weight loss goals.

Some diets seem doomed to failure, banning snacks and leaving you hungry. And that’s a problem. Unless you have cast-iron willpower, hunger will always win.

I was in the same situation a few years ago; my diet was working well, and I was losing weight, but I was so hungry that I knew it was just a matter of time before my willpower broke, and I’d end up reaching for a candy bar.

I’d made some great progress and really didn’t want to derail my diet, so I started looking at ways to have healthy, sweet-tasting snacks that would still allow me to lose weight. After a lot of searching, I finally settled on protein bars.

Protein bars seemed like the perfect solution for healthy snacks. Protein is very filling, and also boosts your metabolism, leading to faster weight loss. Talk about a perfect combination! They are also sweet and tasty, and many come in the same flavors as candy bars, but with fewer calories.

After I bought and tried a bar, I was hooked! It satisfied my hunger and my cravings, but didn’t derail my diet; perfect.

But, and here’s the important part of this article, not all protein bars are the same. Some are very good for weight loss, but others are less so. That’s because there are different types of protein bar. Some are designed for using after exercise, and so they contain a lot of calories and carbs.

Other bars contain fewer carbs and calories, and are ideal as a healthy, between meals snack that won’t ruin your diet.

The trick is knowing which ones are which!

So, with this question in mind, I set out to do some research and discover the best protein bars for my goal of weight loss. I looked at things like ingredients, protein content, number of calories, taste, and cost, and put all my findings in my article The best protein bar for you. In that article, I also reveal my favorite brands, and explain why I like them so much.

Of course, if you prefer, you can also make your own protein bars – it’s actually very easy! I did some experimentation and came up with some great recipes that you can find on my protein bar recipe page. Some of them don’t even need cooking!

While I really am a big fan of protein bars, it’s important to understand that they should be part of a well-balanced, healthy diet. It’s only by eating healthily and staying active that you’ll lose weight and keep it off.

A lot of people are confused about healthy eating, and don’t really know where to start. I know I was a bit like that when I started out. To help, I produced a healthy eating guide called Nutrition facts – a practical guide about nutrition to get you started on the right foot.
