Gadgets can make health and fitness easier, and easier is always better. I have discovered some great gadgets, and they all make creating and sticking to healthy habits a cinch. There are my four favorite gadgets of 2017.
Christmas is coming, so if you can’t think of what you’d like as a present, why not choose something from this list of gadgets to make living a healthy life easier. Health and fitness is the perfect gift to give and receive.
1) FitBit Charge 2 Heartrate and Fitness Wristband
Fitness monitors have come a long way in the last few years, and FitBit are the market leaders. Their range of fitness wristbands is extensive, and the FitBit Charge 2 is one of the best I’ve used. I’ve got mine at Amazon.com.
Easy to set up, and even easier to use, the Charge 2 not only monitors how many steps you run or walk, it also measures your heart rate while you exercise, and shows in real time how far you’ve covered and even how fast you are walking or running.
Scoring a very decent 4.2/5.0 on Amazon, this bestselling fitness monitor is as stylish as it is useful, and looks great on your wrist; you can wear it all day in place of your regular watch, without looking out of place.
Available at Amazon.com.
2) Kindle Paperwhite E-reader
Update: Amazon Black Friday Week with 30% off here.
I’ve been using a Kindle for reading for several years now. For me, it’s the perfect reading solution. I’ve got mine at Amazon.com. I have lots of books, and carrying the real things with me would mean lugging a big book-box with me wherever I go; hardly practical, especially when traveling.
With a Kindle E-reader, you can get your entire book collection onto a very small handheld device, and take it with you wherever you go. Like all Kindles, the Paperwhite has a long battery life that lasts several weeks between charges, and it can store thousands of books. Buying more books is easy too – just connect the Kindle to any Wi-Fi source.
The only real downside to Kindles was you couldn’t use them in the dark unless you used something like a clip-on light. The new Paperwhite has an illuminated screen so you can read in all lighting conditions. The screen resolution is also better than on previous models. You can also adjust the size of the text for your reading comfort.
If you love to read, you’ll love the Kindle Paperwhite E-reader.
3) JBLCharge 3 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
Update: Amazon is doing a promotion of 30% off, you can check the product here.
I love music, and like to listen to music whatever I’m doing, and wherever I’m doing it. In fact, I’m listening to music while I write this article – thanks Spotify! However, I don’t really like earbuds or headphones, even for my home workouts.
To save me having a music player in every room of my house and at work too, I use a portable Bluetooth speaker so I can take my music with me wherever I go. I’ve tried a few different speakers, but my favorite model is the JBL Charge 3.
No bigger than a beer can, this speaker is surprisingly loud, has a great bass response, a long battery life, and is light and portable enough you can take wherever you go. Amazingly, it’s also waterproof, so you can safely use it when you are having a bath or shower – what a great way to relax!
I use my speaker when I’m doing yoga, working out at home, or in my kitchen when I’m cooking healthy food to eat; I do love to have my personal soundtrack!
The JBL Charge 3 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker scores a solid 4.3/5.0 on Amazon and is available from Amazon.com.
4) Brita Water Pitcher
Most people don’t drink enough water. This is often because their tap water tastes crummy, and bottled water is both expensive, and not very ecologically-sound. All those plastic water bottles soon add up! Even if you recycle, all that waste is not good for the planet.
One way around these problems is to use the Brita Water Pitcher. With this device, you just fill it with water, and it filters away all the impurities. You are then left with pure, great-tasting water.
It comes with one filter, which is enough to treat over 300 16.9 fluid ounce bottles of water, making it much cheaper and greener than buying bottled water.
I like to fill my pitcher at night, and then make sure I drink the entire contents the following day. That way, I know I’ve drunk enough water to stay well hydrated.
You can get the Brita 10 Cup Everyday Water Pitcher, including one filter, from Amazon.com.
