    Smoky Mustard-Maple Salmon – 5 Ingredients

Fat is a complicated nutritional subject. One on hand, many people believe that fat is unhealthy, and you should eat as little of it as possible. They say that fat can lead to weight gain, and is bad for your heart.

On the other hand, other people believe that fat is very healthy, and that certain fats such as fish oils can help with conditions like joint pain, brain development in infants, and are so important they are considered essential.  Learn more – Not All Fats Are Created Equally.

As with most nutritional arguments, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Some dietary fats are undeniably good for you, but eating too much fat can lead to weight gain. It’s important to have a balanced fat intake – neither too much or too little. How to Choose Healthy Fats.

The delicious fish recipe contains a little fat, about four grams per serving, but that fat is very healthy! It’s also super-easy to make and is perfect dinner for two.

    Prep time: 5 minutes

    Cooking time: 15 minutes

    Servings: 2

    Ingredients

    • 2 4-ounce skinless salmon fillets
    • 1 ½ tablespoons whole-grain mustard
    • 1 ½ teaspoons pure maple syrup
    • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
    • Black pepper, freshly ground
    • Seat salt, freshly ground

    Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F. Grease a small baking tray lightly with olive oil. Place the fish on the prepared tray.

Next, in a small bowl, mix the mustard, paprika, and a little salt and pepper.

Cover the top and sides of the fish with the mustard mixture. Leave for a few minutes to soak into the flesh of the fish.

Bake for 8-12 minutes so the fish is just cooked through. Serve with a fresh green salad, or vegetables of your choice.
