Whatever diet you are following, whether you want to lose weight or just eat more healthily, smoothies can help you reach your goals. I have written a lot about smoothies since I started Days to Fitness and for good reason – they work! Green smoothies, protein smoothies, weight loss smoothies – I love them all.
Smoothies make healthy eating easy. A lot of the time, people are too busy to cook healthy meals and end up eating junk food instead. As a result, they end up missing out on the healthy benefits of fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods. They also end up gaining weight and becoming unwell as a result.
But, with smoothies, you can prepare a healthy, low calorie, nutrient-packed meal in a glass in seconds and, best of all, no cooking and next to no washing up. In fact, if you have a good blender like the ones I recommend in my article The Best Blender for You, to clean it you only need to half-fill the jug with warm water and a few drops of dishwasher cleanser, run it for 30-seconds and it’s clean!
Of all the smoothies I have written about, the ones that are probably the healthiest are the ones that contain superfoods.
Superfoods are special foods that are loaded with healthy nutrients. Some are regular foods like avocados, honey, and coconut oil while others are a little more unusual like acai berries and spirulina, a type of algae.
Superfoods are, as their name suggests, super healthy and each one effects your body in different ways. Despite being foods, they have a medicinal effect on your health and can help make you feel and look better than you ever believed.
Including superfoods in your diet can help ward off illnesses – both now and in the future. They are very powerful and you’ll feel happier and healthier than you ever thought possible if you include them in your diet. Want to know more about the awesome subject that is superfoods? I think smoothies are one of the best ways to get superfoods into your eating plan…
Really, there are two types of superfood smoothies – one where you use whole superfoods and the other where you use superfood powder. Both options work but are very different. Here are my two types of superfood smoothie recipes.
Superfood foods (sorry if that’s a bit of a tongue twister!) can be selected and put in your blender with water, non-dairy milk, cow’s milk, or whatever other liquid you prefer. Add some fruit to provide taste and texture and then blend for 30-seconds or so to make a healthy, delicious, superfood-loaded smoothie. I love superfood smoothies for breakfast.
Alternatively, you can make your favorite smoothie and then add a serving or two of superfood powder. Superfood powder contains concentrated, dried superfoods that you can add to almost any liquid. Just whizz up your smoothie as normal and then enjoy a super healthy superfood smoothie.
I’ve shared superfood recipes using superfood powder in case you need a little guidance on how to use superfood powder but, really, you could just add superfood powder to almost any of your favorite smoothies to boost their healthful benefits. Check my next section – Superfood Powder Smoothies.
Still not sure whether superfood foods or superfood powder is best? Check out my article “Whole Superfoods vs. Superfood Powder” to see which option is right for you.
Whether you choose whole food or powdered superfood smoothies, I know you’ll be glad you started adding these nutrition essentials to your diet. In just a few short weeks you’ll look and feel better than you ever thought possible. How do I know? Because I’ve experienced the power of superfoods for myself!
